MID PACIFIC OCEAN UPDATE

Sailing across the Pacific Ocean

Latitude 5 deg 02 N / 127 deg 01 W

Hello Everyone, today celebrates our 2 weeks out from port, we are mid
Pacific Ocean, with about 1,800 sailing miles chalked up, 950 to go to Hiva Oa
in the Marquesas group, French Polynesia.  A full passage log will emerge in
due course, after we have slept/showered/recovered at our destination. So...
so far so good - we are both very tired, particularly after the "retirement" of
our auto pilot a couple of days ago, and being caught up in some heavy
weather for 3 straight days... we are out of that as of this morning and having
a nice quiet sail at 20 knots.  Winds since we left has been strong (nothing
much less than 20 knots), consistent except for the last 5 days when the NE
trades got tangled up with the Pineapple Express(wind from Hawaii region
and caused "increasingly complex and robust conditions" in a 2000 mile
rectangle… we and several other boats were in that... we escaped with wind
and drenching rain in the 30 knot range for 3 days, others got hit with 50
knots and some injuries...we are both fine but weary, nothing that a straight 8
in the sack couldn't fix. The boat is damp from the rainwater but de-salted &
clean. We're eating well, never had the slightest inkling of sea sickness and
will celebrate our 2 weeks at sea with a cold beer.   Isn't it amazing, being able
to do email from the high seas!! If you are interested in tracking our position,
go to the YotReps website and click on position tracker, then find
Dreamcatcher's call sign: WDB5015; we try to put in a position report every 3
days or less. Will be in touch after arrival in the Marquesas towards the end of
April.
